During our 13 years of building Custom Residential Homes, we have found that this option of individuality speaks to our customers and our customers speak of our commitment to quality. Process for when customer calls: Remodels/Additions: set appt and Ted goes to see what needs to be done New Homes: Usually our customers call first – we get as much information as we can regarding what they are looking for; we discuss beginning square foot price, what is included and not included; our general time-frame for construction, which can vary, but usually we allow 4 – 6 weeks for the plans to be drawn and sealed for the county; 4 – 6 weeks in permitting; and 5 – 6 months to build once the ground has been broke. We then discuss our list of standards that is included in our price to see if they are looking for a basic package or upgraded items. We inquire if they have a floor plan already picked out or if they are looking for something in particular. We take their notes and try to find a floor plan (usually a couple) to send them and let them give us any additional feedback. Once a floor plan has been chosen, and we discuss interior options as far as sticking with the standard package, we would prepare a contract. If the contract is accepted, then we take a deposit to start the plans. Sometime during this process, we will go to the customers’ site to review and see what type of foundation will be required, any special surveying or elevation certificates, etc.
While in the permitting process, we encourage the customer to proceed with bank financing if they have not done so already. Once the plans enter into permitting, we like to schedule a meeting and choose all customer selections. The time for this varies from customer to customer. Some customers pick things out in 1 to 1 ½ hours – we’ve had a few take 4 hours – we’ve had a few that have had to come back another day. We don’t have a time limit – we want you to be happy. Once customer selections have been made – you just sit back and we do our thing.
